Today our Grade Five classroom began to discuss our wonderful sharing and learning project. They learned about Mme Amanda's students in Africa and read through the blog posts. They were then asked to discuss and brainstorm ideas regarding what they would like to share with our new friends. It was unanimous that they wanted you to learn about SNOW!
During the winter here in Winnipeg, Canada, our temperatures drop to way below zero, everything freezes and we have a lot of snow on the ground.
This is Mme Boyko and three girls in a snow fort. Our students LOVE digging in the snow and stacking blocks to make snow forts on the playground.
Finally, here's a group enjoying the freshness of snow. Have a look at what we are wearing. Do you think we could toss the freezing cold snow around if we weren't wearing all the winter gear you see here? If we went outside in winter in just our t-shirts and shorts, we would freeze! So, we have to wear jackets and snow pants, plus mittens and a tuque on our heads, to stay warm. It takes a very long time to get all ready to go outside, but it's worth it because we love playing in the snow!
(A special thanks to some Grade Four students who helped me write the captions for the above pictures. They even typed them on the blog themselves!)
